TEAM AMERICA has raised over $160,000 to date.
And we're just getting started.

TEAM AMERICA is a growing group of friends that was formed in 2007 to participate in the Tri-State Trek, a 270 mile bike ride from Boston to New York, benefiting the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) based in Cambridge, MA. We have participated in the Trek every year since and have been growing our community of supporters along the way. Our mission expanded in 2011 to include a quality of life component by supporting the ALS Residence Initiative (ALSRI) to complement the amazing research being performed in the labs at TDI. ALSRI & TDI are each pioneers in the cure for ALS. In other words, our goal is to cure this thing, to improve the lives of ALS patients and their families in the meantime and to have fun doing it.

Until TDI proves otherwise, technology IS the cure.

October, 2006
Steve was diagnosed
with ALS at 38 and
retires from his career
as an architect.

June, 2007 - Steve’s last hike.

July, 2007 – Gabe Cohen Leadholm convinced Chuck that riding a bicycle from Boston to New York is possible. Here they are having completed the 270 mile bike ride and together raised over $7,000.
TEAM AMERICA is born.

July, 2009 – TEAM AMERICA gets serious
when Steve arrives on Day 1 of Year 3 with jerseys!
Haven’t looked back ever since.

August, 2010 – The ALS community and the city of Boston celebrate the grand opening of the Steve Saling ALS Residence in Chelsea, MA. Governor Deval Patrick toured the facility and Stephen Hawking delivered a personal address to the attendees.

July, 2011 – Our 5th consecutive year participating in the Tri-State Trek!
Growing the team brought new and inspiring ALS stories into our community.
With 25 riders and a handful of dedicated volunteers,
TEAM AMERICA 2011 raised over $50,000 in a single year.
